At this years Christmas Market in Durness we presented some plastic alternatives. We donated a ZeroPlastic@Starter kit to the raffle to raise funds for Durness Village Hall. The pack included ideas to reduce plastic in the kitchen, bathroom, for the individual and possible Christmas gifts.
ZeroPlastic@Kitchen: Wooden washing up brush, SAFIX Coconut fiber scrub pad, IF YOU CARE compostable washable sponges, other ideas include buying washing liquids and detergents in bulk 5L/15L, use old jars for storage, and beeswax wrap for food.
ZeroPlastic@Bathroom: HUMBLE wooden toothbrushes, FUNKY SOAP or LUSH shampoo and conditioner bars, soap bars, bamboo cotton buds, plastic free deodorant, wooden scrubbing brushes, and double edge safety razors with bamboo handles.
ZeroPlastic@Me: Reusable bottles, Keep cups (e.g. rCup 340ml Coffee Cup available in the MacKay and Sons, Durness), bringing a cotton bag shopping, refusing products packaged in plastic, wear plastic free clothes e.g. Cotton and Bamboo, No Nylon, Polyester and PVC.
ZeroPlastic@Christmas: Reuse old wrapping paper, do not buy gifts wrapped in plastic, reusable crackers, avoid food wrapped in excess plastic, shop locally for food and gifts to reduce waste and carbon footprint of your Christmas.
